I've been having a problem with my tunnel, the one that links one side to the other of the strip between canals... For some reason, townies won't use it unless it's the absolute last way available, even when it's the shortest path... They'd rather go all the way around or through the castle! Any thoughts on why that happens? Do townies avoid going underground if there's a surface path? Should I build a high-arched bridge instead?

Also, for those interested, an update on my town.... I started a harbor, with the containment system and the big entrance done. Also, another quarter of the outer castle wall was made, and it's almost halfway through. I turned my guard towers into living quarters with 4 modified rooms each (used the floor-erasing trick for that, was quite annoying and a lot of work, but it paid off). My armory is all setup and I'm toying with a cactus fruit production in the northwest, on a sand patch under a hill.

Now I miss delving underground some more, so I'm going to build an area with a balcony inside the castle walls, probably near the river. That way I can equip my heroes more easily with silver and gold, which I have been stockpiling from merchants, and I'll send them into the levels 16 and beyond - now that I have also increased my population to the point where I have 9 heroes.

As always, I'd love some criticism on the town!

One more update before what's probably going to be a week with little Towns... The harbor is pretty much finished (even has a boat inside the shipyard!), just needs a few touches, the aqueduct system got expanded and there were, overall, lots of tweaks all around. The crypt got another floor because of levels -16 and -18, and I decided to use the orange road color to denote military/combat-related facilities. The only downside is that my heroes left with all the gold/silver equipment they had, after I stopped delving into the dungeon to build more... =/

For those interested, a screen of the harbor and the savegame:

Well, after almost a month (a very busy one), I got back to doing some things in my town... And the greek-style theatre I wanted came to life, even if I'm not completely happy with how it turned out... Here are a couple screens:

From the surface level:

From the bottom level, with the crew quarters:

I have also rounded out a few things that needed to be polished, and almost finished the road that will lead to the castle itself (which will require a lot of inspiration to pull off the way I want it...). The crypt also got a third level (which I just realized I probably won't use much, since I've already cleared all the underground levels... Maybe for the bones of those who die to werewolf'ed heroes). Following the lead of the greek theatre, I now have a couple more ideas in mind: a pantheon, with the new hero tombs (which I may or may not put inside a pyramid, for irony); a shop district (which I will only build after/if the hero patch, which is supposedly V13); and the castle itself, which needs to be the most grandiose structure in the town - makes me sad that I started this town before mountain maps were available with the extra height...

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them, as I've running low on ideas...

That's just... wow....

Personally I would have used the regular-looking rough bricks instead fo the terraces; but that's just me - the thing still looks EPIC. Although it'd be cool if you put hidden scaffolds for things like a Deus ex Machina (have your townies appear on the roof as 'gods')...

One thing which might "jazz it up" would be to use the lapedra walls in 2x2 'columns' to support a larger roof structure, and then put some kind of decorations on top. Unfortunately the statues face the wrong way for that; but there must be something which would work. Both of these ideas are based on things which were in real Greek theatres; in fact the roof-stage (I can't remember the proper name for it) and the Deus ex Machina were very important in revelatory scenes, so if you want to stage a "play" (dress up soldiers on patrol in masks/costumes such as iron armour for guards, wooden mask for the oracle, Mayan mask for a monster, Golden Haste helmet for a god...) then that might be an interesting project to make your theatre actually work as a theatre...

I actually want to keep it open, every attempt at a small roof that wouldn't cover the whole thing failed... I really liked putting the La pedrera columns, but if they stand alone there it's just kinda weird, hahahaha... I'll try some different things when I can and see what happens, but I may also save the idea for the entrance to the castle or for some other suspended structure.

Last night I also had an idea for a mountainside urban complex and a horse track... Time to get back to the planning.
