Some mac fixes

Postby Dwimmer » Thu Apr 05, 2012 11:14 pm

For those of you who have other problems than Permissions, then this is for you!

First, download Towns. That folder NEEDS to be on your Desktop, and it NEEDS to be named "Towns"
Now, go to Finder. It should look like this-
Image

Make a new folder. Name it "towns" EXACTLY
Now, drag that folder into your Users folder. It will ask you to authenticate it. Press "Authenticate" and enter your password-

Now it should be like this-

Okay, it's terminal time! Go into Finder and get Terminal up and running. Now, type this-
Code: Select all
cd /Users/username/

Now, type
Code: Select all
sudo mv towns .towns

After pressing ENTER, there will be a warning message in Terminal. In this case, it doesn't matter. Now, enter your password into Terminal. It will not show as you type, so don't think that it froze up on you.

Finder should look like this now-

Now you should be set! Exit out of Terminal, and go back into it. We need a clean window for the next step.

Type this into Terminal-
Code: Select all
cd /Users/username/Desktop/Towns/

Remember, username is in place of YOUR username. (ex- jiminycrickets)

Now, type
Code: Select all
bash towns.command

Towns SHOULD pop up. If it says "Permission Denied", then type
Code: Select all
chmod a+x bash towns.command

If you found this helpful, then type
Code: Select all
Brofist to you!
as a reply!

Great tutorial.

When I get around to writing up a big FAQ thread I'll add this one :)

Thanks!

It took me about 3 days to get this infernal game to finally work. Well, at least some more people can play now!

Sudo means "super user do" which makes the command run as root :)
