Just lost my save game with a bluescreen

Postby Litcube » Tue Jul 02, 2013 6:50 pm

Upon saving, my system blue screened (first in 6 years).

My save of my long running campaign is now gone. My .zip file is corrupt with only one file in it: world1.twn at 0 bytes.

You guys need to institute incremental auto saving so this doesn't happen, in multuple slots. Do you know how frustrating it is to lose a game you've been working on for weeks?

While we can only apologise for the loss of your gameplay, can I ask if you were using the autosave feature in the game?

No I wasn't. Does that automatically save in a different slot?

No.. saves only use 1 slot - you could of backed up the save manually but there is no built in function to back up saves.. though it has been suggested..

If you have Windows Backup turned on, you should be able to recover a version of the file.

Having said that, the Blue Screen indicates something a lot more serious going on with your PC. Did you updated any of the drivers? (Sometimes Windows update will do that for you -- I hate that.) At the very least least, you should right click on the disk, go to properties, then the tools tab, and run "check for errors".

Try graphics drivers. I used to have terrible problems on windows with my HD 6850. It would bluescreen once or twice a week. After a few weeks it started to get on my nerves, so i started disabling things and playing. After updating my graphics card drivers I don't think I've ever had another BSOD :)
