Post here your released mods

[ML][0.45]MudMod[v0.9]

Postby Deedasmi » Thu Mar 15, 2012 3:00 am

The purpose of this mod is to give the player a valid and semi-balanced way to get rid of mud, while conserving valuable starting resources.

Features:

-Combine 3 mud into a single Mud Brick (auto-production- utils)
-Use Mud Bricks to create Mud Roads, and Mud Walls.
-Mud Walls will decay after 21-30 days, giving you plenty of time to collect additional stone.
-Mud roads do not decay

How to install:
This mod requires Modloader.

~ It's always a good idea to back up your saves. C:/Users/<user>/.towns/saves , copy and paste to a safe location.
1. Follow the instructions in this thread to install Modloader: modloader
~ If you had a previous version of MudMod installed, or you just downloaded Modloader, it's recommended you run the ModUnInstaller.bat before continuing.
2. Unzip MudMod-v0.9.zip
3. Place the files in the Mods folder found in your Towns folder.
4. Launch ModInstaller.bat

Big thanks to eLe for helping me get graphics working.

New version includes modname.txt, everything else is the same.

[stoneroadtile]TILE_X = 6
[stoneroadtile]TILE_Y = 1
[stoneroadtile]COLOR_MINIMAP = BLACK
[stoneroadtile_N]TILE_X = 1
[stoneroadtile_N]TILE_Y = 0
[stoneroadtile_S]TILE_X = 1
[stoneroadtile_S]TILE_Y = 0
[stoneroadtile_E]TILE_X = 2
[stoneroadtile_E]TILE_Y = 0
[stoneroadtile_W]TILE_X = 2
[stoneroadtile_W]TILE_Y = 0
[stoneroadtile_EW]TILE_X = 2
[stoneroadtile_EW]TILE_Y = 0
[stoneroadtile_NS]TILE_X = 1
[stoneroadtile_NS]TILE_Y = 0
[stoneroadtile_NW]TILE_X = 4
[stoneroadtile_NW]TILE_Y = 1
[stoneroadtile_NE]TILE_X = 1
[stoneroadtile_NE]TILE_Y = 1
[stoneroadtile_SW]TILE_X = 2
[stoneroadtile_SW]TILE_Y = 1
[stoneroadtile_SE]TILE_X = 3
[stoneroadtile_SE]TILE_Y = 1
[stoneroadtile_NSE]TILE_X = 5
[stoneroadtile_NSE]TILE_Y = 0
[stoneroadtile_NSW]TILE_X = 6
[stoneroadtile_NSW]TILE_Y = 0
[stoneroadtile_NEW]TILE_X = 4
[stoneroadtile_NEW]TILE_Y = 0
[stoneroadtile_SEW]TILE_X = 3
[stoneroadtile_SEW]TILE_Y = 0
[stoneroadtile_NSEW]TILE_X = 5
[stoneroadtile_NSEW]TILE_Y = 1

Here's the graphics.ini (probably) for the road tiles.

No problem. :)

Here's how I did the walls: I copied part of the mud graphic from items.png, and pasted it until it filled the image. Then I took a copy of the stone walls from walls.png, removed most of the pixels with alpha transparency, magic wand selected all fully transparent pixels, then removed that bit from the mud layer.
I then made the stone wall layer about 90% transparent and merged the two layers (though it still didn't look good, so I did the same thing with a copy of the mud layer). Then I just messed with the brightness/contrast, luminosity curves, and hue/saturation until it looked like that.
I'm by no means a graphic person (a graphics person would have created some magical walls maybe), but that's the method I've come up with after years of modding games. :)

Seems to work quite well. Very thankful that they're laying the mud down for roads instead of trying to fill their stomachs with it.

New graphics in, new version up. Ran the uninstaller, installed, and it worked fine. Always a good idea to back up your saves though.

I don't get better graphics, I get random items from the game. I don't think this mod is compatible with the Dig Site Mod, even though both use modloader.
